Animal Welfare Project
This project features beloved pets and service, rescue, and shelter animals.
Sometimes I wish I could adopt more animals, but two dogs is my current capacity. This benefit project is my way of supporting and honoring the precious lives of animals and the bonds we share with them. It is inspired by my two dogs (my very best buds) who I am eternally grateful for and by all my experiences with animals throughout my life.
Every pet portrait helps raise money for local animal rescue efforts. 10% is donated to Chatham Animal Resource and Education (C.A.R.E), Chatham Animal Resource Center (A.R.C.), or directly to those fostering via discount! Fostering is such an important part of the animal rescue effort. Anyone who is currently fostering and commissions a portrait of their own pets or foster animals gets a 10% discount.
Volunteering and spreading awareness
Making animal portraits has helped me become a volunteer at the ARC (my local animal shelter). For me, the process of making art allows me to be involved without becoming overcome by compassion fatigue. It supports me in moving through inevitable feelings of helplessness, attachment, and grief so that I can show up in person in a healthy and present way.
